ImageImageThe other day I was in Target, minding my own business, when I heard this rather large, black woman scream, "Echinacea! Echinacea! Echinacea! Where you at girl?" I wasn't sure why she was standing in the middle of the aisle shouting out the name of a vitamin. But then all of a sudden there was a little pudgy girl, with large eyes screaming just as loudly, "Here I am Mama."

ImageYep, the little girl's name was Echinacea.

Why? Why do parents do this to their children? When my Mother was teaching first grade she had several students who would later be ashamed of their names, or at least they should be. There was a Precious. There was a Princess. And there was a Panda. Why? WHY?!

Please people, for the love of God, STOP NAMING YOUR KIDS DUMB ASS NAMES! I'm not saying they have to be "Jennifer" or "Brian" - God knows we have enough of those bland names - but there is also no reason to name your child after a multi-vitamin! What's next, Vitamin C Jenkins?

That's hilarious! It won't be vitamins. I was perusing the names of paints in an upscale hardware store (whatever that means), and I convinced myself it's the next genre of menus for naming children.

Picture this (actual paint names)
"Hematite"
:Opal Slate"
"Promenade"
"Divine Cream".

Yes - I can see it coming.

Thanks for the laugh, and it's oh so true.
