ImageImageWhat is it with arts & entertainment having such a huge impact on society when really, everyone I talk to says they don't have time to watch TV, or that they hate TV, or that they would rather sit around and watch paint dry then watch tv? And on top of this, and if no one actually watches TV, then why is everything that everyone says always described by something they've seen on TV?

Take for example a friend of mine, who walking down the street discovered that yes, I was wearing an insanely bright orange top because you know, its just so freaking grey in London? Her statement to me was:

"Wow, great top! It's like, so High School Musical of you to wear it!"

And my reaction was:

Image"Shit. Must remember to switch light on in morning to see what I am wearing today"

But the whole point of the matter is she hasn't even seen High School Musical. In fact, she didn't even know it existed until she saw the advert in the paper for the High School Musical broadway show that is coming to town to suck all the money out of our wallets.

So the whole thing I believe, is that people have a substantial power to learn by osmosis. You haven't seen Prison Break but secretly, if you were ever thrown in prison, you would know exactly which toilet to dig the tunnel behind, and which country to flee to. Granted, you might not anticipate that you'd be thrown into a worse jail in the new country but hey, there's only so much we can learn by osmosis. I mean, we're not Jack Bauer with super-human don't-have-to-use-the-toilet powers, are we?
