  For those of you who think porn is something a little bit idiotic or a bit of harmless fun, let me now inform you that it is more, much more, than that.
In fact, it is a little known fact that porn drives the development of technology.
Of the multitude of examples in which this has happened, here are a few:
 When video tapes were first produced, there were two kinds of video tape, Sony (VHS) and Betamax. Because VHS video tapes were cheaper to produce, porn makers used these to distribute their films. Consequently, VHS video recorders began to dominate the market. The early home video rental stores, the outlets that drove Betamax from the market, were almost exclusively pornographic.- When the iPod video first came out, within a month, porn producers had converted their movies to iPod format and were selling pay per view for the iPod. The movie producers figured out how to do this for free, and now everyone does it (Apple tried twice to stop blocking people from converting the movies to play on the iPod). The porn on the iPod has not helped the iPod sell per se, but it has put the iPod on the cutting edge and has helped it keep selling for six years, while other such products have bitten the dust.
- Currently there is a war on among the producers of high definition DVDs, between Blu-Ray and HD DVD. The porno people have started backing Blu-Ray as standard and soon HD DVD will be dust.
How funny that in the future, in the history of technology books for schools you will have to include these pertinent facts. Or maybe not. How many history books really tell the truth about history?
The only confusing thing in this history of porn is why Pornotube should have developed now, after its non-porn sister site YouTube.com . And how does pornotube make any money? There are so many mysteries in the world, and yet so few answers.
In England there will be lots of confused faces at the moment. When someone says, "Hey, I saw you on the tube the other day." Since the tube is the name for the London subway, anyone who has posted their bum on pornotube will wonder, did she recognize me from my bum or did she just see me on the subway?
